Handle alcohol orders the right way

We've been looking at ways to help you identify those times when you’ll need to ask customers for ID when delivering alcohol with their order.
Recently we started flagging alcohol items 18+ on your Just Eat menu. This is great for customers as they’ll know to have their ID handy, and you’ll know when you need to ask your drivers to check it.

Now,  Orderpad will alert you when orders contain alcohol.  And you’ll see it on your receipt too. This means that you, your driver and your customer will know what’s expected to happen when the delivery is handed over.

A quick reminder:

Challenge 25!
Check for ID if the customer looks young and always use the "Challenge 25" rule.

Delivery orders containing alcohol must not be handed over to the customer unless:

• The customer shows a valid, approved form of ID. This must be a passport, photo driving licence or a proof of age card, such as the PASS card from the national Proof of Age Standards Scheme
• The name on the ID matches the name on the order receipt
• The customer is over 18 years old
• The customer does not appear to be drunk

If the customer is drunk, underage or does not have a valid, approved ID matching the name on the order, your driver must not hand over the alcohol. Food items in the order can still be delivered as usual. The customer should be told to contact Just Eat for a refund.

Remember, it is your legal obligation to sell alcohol responsibly.  We’re hoping that you’ll find these new features make it all a little easier and less stressful.

For all orders containing alcohol we’re asking that you pack the alcohol in a separate bag to the food and non-alcohol items.
That way, the driver may still hand over the food and non-alcoholic items and return only the alcohol should the customer not produce age ID or not pass the Challenge 25 test. This will avoid the whole order having to be returned, as happens now.
